FAQ
What is Annual Giving?
Quite simply, it is the lifeblood of Carnegie Mellon.
Gifts to the Annual Fund have an immediate impact on Carnegie Mellon because they support all aspects of operating the university—from keeping the lights on to providing student research grants. Annual gifts support Carnegie Mellon's most pressing needs and help create a vibrant campus community.
How is my gift used?
By making a gift to the Annual Fund, your contribution is used where it is needed most by the university. Or, you may direct your gift to a specific college, program or activity of interest to you.
Either way, be assured that 100 percent of your contribution will be allocated in the way you have chosen. Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator, has recognized Carnegie Mellon with its highest four-star rating for fiscal responsibility for the fifth consecutive year.

How does my gift add value to each Carnegie Mellon degree?
Participation in giving is a measure of alumni satisfaction and also taken into account in college rankings, the awarding of corporate and foundation grants, by high school students and parents making college selections and by other donors who wish to give to a thriving educational institution. All of these factors boost the value of each Carnegie Mellon degree.
When should I make my annual gift?
Your gift is most needed today! However, the university’s fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. So by making a gift early you help the university plan and budget for campus needs more efficiently.
